Choosing Your Glasses |
|
There are two ways of looking at buying glasses. Either they’re just something that you have to have, to help you see better—a grudge purchase, in other words. Or they’re an opportunity to change and enhance your appearance—to wear some ‘jewellery for your eyes!’
Well, you can guess which approach we favour—but don’t worry, it’s your preference that counts! We have a great range of frames, from excellent value budget frames—as competitively priced as you will find anywhere—to really stylish designer brands that will really set you apart from the crowd!
How to Choose?
With such a great range, how do you start to choose what’s best for you? Well, here are some points to bear in mind:
· Decide what type of lenses you need first. After all, however attractive a frame may be, it is the lenses that will help you see better—and not every type of lens (e.g. a varifocal, or a polarised lens) can fit in every frame.
· Decide on your budget. Both lenses and frames do vary a lot in price—but, as in most things in life, you tend to get what you pay for. More expensive lenses simply work better...
· … and quality pays in frames, too. If you are having ‘readers’ that you will only wear occasionally, there’s no need to spend a lot on a top quality frame. But by the same token, if you are spending a little more on your lenses—varifocals, say—and you are going to wear them every day, then buying the cheapest possible frame could be a false economy. Good quality frames are typically made from better materials, so will keep that ‘brand new’ look for longer.
There are a few hints and tips we can give you when you come to the practice about the style of each frame —for example, it’s often a good idea to contrast the shape of your face with the shape of the frame… and to choose colours that complement your skin tones. But other that—it’s your choice. What will you feel comfortable wearing? |
